My colleagues in the SDSO horn section join me in welcoming you to the 2010 Southwest Regional Workshop of the International Horn Society! When Doug Hall and I attended the IHS Symposium in Macomb this past June, we were so inspired by the goings-on of that week that we started to put our heads together about how we might host such an affair here in San Diego. It happens that this season’s SDSO performance schedule includes many of the orchestral horn repertoire’s greatest chestnuts, most notably our performances on May 14-16 of ‘Eine Alpensinfonie’ of Richard Strauss and Igor Stravinsky’s ‘The Rite of Spring’. We’re also very excited to have such a star-studded roster of guest artists who have agreed to participate, including Eric Ruske, David Krehbiel, Dr. Annie Bosler, Don Greene, and the Four Hornsmen of the Apocalypse.. We have many great events in the works and would love if as many people as possible can attend.We already have arrangements with our own Sheraton hotel located at Copley Symphony Hall for a special rate of $89/night, so stay tuned for online registration details. We hope to see you all there…please come be a part of the fun, and tell your friends!
